Fred began his career at ABC6 in 1998. He’s done a bit of everything from reporting, to website design, and of course, forecasting the sometimes tricky weather of Southern New England. Most recently, you can find Fred every weekday on ABC6 First at Four, ABC6 News at 6, and ABC6 News at 11 pm.

Fred is the first meteorologist in Southern New England to earn the American Meteorological Society’s Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation, a professional recognition of the quality of his weather broadcasts. Among radio and television meteorologists, the CBM designation is sought as a mark of distinction and recognition. To earn the CBM, broadcasters must hold a degree in meteorology or equivalent from an accredited college or university, pass a rigorous written examination, and have their on-air work reviewed to assess technical competence, informational value, explanatory value, and communication skills.

Fred is a Bristol native and still resides there. He attended St. Philomena School in Portsmouth, and Bishop Connolly High School in Fall River. Fred received a degree in Economics from the University of Colorado in 1994, but soon discovered that weather -- particularly forecasting Southern New England's weather, was what he really wanted to do for a living. In 1998, Fred received his Meteorology degree from Plymouth State College, where he graduated cum laude and served as Vice President of the school’s American Meteorological Society Chapter.

Fred and his wife, Diane, live in Bristol with their sons Alex and Domenic, and daughter Mia. In his free time Fred enjoys spending time with his family and helping to coach youth sports. Amazingly, he still finds time to play in a couple of soccer leagues.
