Richard Eagan of Fall River has spent 13 years out on the West Coast rooting for his Boston sports teams from afar. But last night he was fortunate enough to be sitting about half-way up in the Staples Center with a front row seat to history.
After charging back from a 24-point deficit, the Celtics stormed back to take the lead from the favored Lakers. And the L.A. crowd couldn't believe their eyes.
Eagan said it was like 99% of the arena was punched in the face all at once, leaving everyone stunned. He said Celtics fans slowly started rising up like green weeds out of their seats as the 2nd half comeback progressed.
And he says he and his friend Jimmy Conners, owner of the popular West Coast Boston sports bar 'Sonny McLean's', stayed in those seats long after the game was over. It was just long enough to savor the sweet victory while they watched all the stars cry in their chardonnay.
They even got to snap a picture with Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck and rookie forward Glen 'Big Baby' Davis.
ABC 6 reporter Parker Gavigan has the story of a Boston sports fan's dream come true...

I know Richard is a television writer, so not surprised by the descriptions, i.e. "fans slowly rising up like green weeds" and "crying in their chardonnay" Beautiful!!! I love LA, you too, KOBE!
