I just wanted to let you know about an important event coming up in our town. Please do all that you can to get word out about our fundraising event throughout the month of May, our school and community really depends on it!

The Berkley Community School is holding its first ever Turtle Race and Family Day Fundraiser on Sunday June 1st from 12 to 4pm at the school. The purpose of the event is to raise funds for a new community playground.

The event, itself, is a big family carnival atmosphere. We will have moonwalks, carnival games, food, and more, including a dunk tank to dunk some school “celebrities”. The event is centered around a turtle race, which will happen at 3pm. These are plastic turtles that patrons sponsor for $5. We plan to “race” these turtles down a man-made river that we are building behind our school. The first three turtles to pass the finish line win a cash prize. Everyone who sponsors a turtle is also entered in raffles going on throughout the day. We have been working extremely hard as a community to help make this event a success. We have several area companies that are geared toward children that are going to be there including a karate demonstration by America’s Best Defense out of Raynham, New England Reptile will be there with some live turtles, and our most recent sponsor, Radio Disney will also be there! It should be an exciting day not only for our school but our community as a whole!
