Event Description

Pawtucket, R.I., April 24,2008 – All Children’s Theatre (ACT), a non-profit, award-winning theatre company dedicated to the education and enrichment of Rhode Island youth, proudly presents “Rock n’ Roll Midsummer Night’s Dream” as part of the organization’s Mainstage Series for All Audiences. This production, under the direction of Dr. Wrenn Goodrum, performs May 10, 11, 17 & 18 at the Met School Theatre.
One of Shakespeare’s most popular plays, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, follows the lives of four young lovers who interact with the fairy world. These lovers encounter many complications as they fall in and out of love with one another. When the fairies and the Duke and Duchess try to intervene, even more confusion emerges.

ACT’s “Rock n’ Roll Midsummer Night’s Dream” is set in the 1950’s as rock n’ roll music makes its debut amid a wave of controversy. “This adaptation allows audiences to experience early rock n’ roll, sock hops, soda shops, and the controversy that surrounded this music”, said Wrenn Goodrum, Founder & Artistic Director of All Children’s Theatre. “It is a fun-filled piece that also educates viewers on the 1950s.”
