Event Description
DOWNTOWN QUAKERTOWN COMES ALIVE
AT THE 9TH ANNUAL ARTS ALIVE! FESTIVAL
Quakertown, PA—There will be sights, sounds, food and more for all ages at the ninth annual Arts Alive! festival on W. Broad Street, Saturday May 17th from 10AM-5PM in downtown Quakertown, PA.
This annual rain-or-shine event is hosted by Quakertown Alive, a non-profit, certified Main Street organization dedicated to downtown revitalization.
The festival showcases the artistic talents of juried fine artists and crafters of Upper Bucks County and neighboring communities. Strolling entertainers will also perform among the crowd and original musical artists will be on stage at Third and W. Broad Streets.
This family-oriented event also offers a Children’s Courtyard, sponsored by local banks QNB and Univest, where activities will be provided for early teens and younger audiences. Magician Jonathan Swift, puppeteer Wagstaff & Co., and Irish dancers from the O’Grady-Quinlan Academy will perform in this area from late morning to early afternoon.
Beginning at 10 AM, Miss Cindy’s School of Dance will perform on the main stage for one hour followed by live, 2-hour original musical performances from three regional artists. Wayne Scott Farley, Laura Higgins, and Matt Duke will each take the stage between 11 AM and 3 PM --thanks in part to QNB Community Bank and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts-- with the festival coming to a close at 5 PM. Sound will be provided by Sonlight Productions.
In addition, local stores, restaurants and food booths will be open. Plus, horse-drawn carriage rides, sponsored by QNB; the Bill Baker Annual Senior Art Show, sponsored by LifeQuest; a student art show at the Quakertown High School; community groups; glass-blowing demonstrations; clowns; a children’s oil painting workshop; book signings; Buzzbee & Co. from B101 FM; and more will offer plenty to see and do.
Parking and admission are free. Rain location: Strayer Middle School, 1200 Ronald Reagan Drive, Quakertown.
Additional support provided by the Bucks County Herald, the Free Press, the Intelligencer, Penny Power, A&E Primetime magazine, WDIY 88.1 FM Lehigh Valley Community and Public Radio, Harleysville National Bank, the Faulkner-Ciocca Dealerships, the Borough of Quakertown, Bux-Mont Awards, and St. Luke’s Hospital & Health Network.
