Event Description

You don’t see them on the streets. In fact, you’re probably not aware of them at all. But, there are 80, 000 of them in Massachusetts. They’re homeless children.

Child and family homelessness is a crisis in our community. Horizons for Homeless Children is here to help them. And you can, too! Programs and services help these homeless children learn and grow, help their families return to self-sufficiency. HHC’s Playspace Programs currently works with over 130 family shelters in Massachusetts. The program recruits, trains, and places volunteers in the shelter Playspaces to supervise and engage the children in fun, educational play so that they can grow and develop, as all children should. Join in making a difference. Become a volunteer.
Horizons for Homeless Children is seeking fun-loving, dependable people to interact and play with children living in family homeless shelters and domestic violence shelters throughout Southeastern Massachusetts. A commitment of 2 hours a week is required for at least 6 months. Afternoon and evening hours are available.
Trainings are held regularly and are listed on our website. Our next training in the Southeastern Region is scheduled at Bridgewater State. For more info about the program, or to register for training, please visit www.horizonsforhomelesschildren.org or contact our office directly at (508) 999-9454. It is a fantastic experience that benefits everyone involved.

What Do You Think of the State's New Ability to Track Illegal Immigrants?

  • I Like it, illegal immigrants are finding work easily while I rot in line at the unemployment office
  • Bad Idea, These people are taking sub-minimum wage jobs anyway and actual citizens are getting snared in this E-Verify system
