Event Details

Date: November 4, 2009

Event Description

Wednesday, November, 4, 2009- 7pm- Rachael Warren

UNISONG is back and in a big way- we have a new home and collaboration! All UNISONGs will now take place at the RI Philharmonic Music School, at 667 Waterman Ave. in E. Providence. We are on a bus route, wheelchair accessible and there’s plenty of parking. Our collaboration with RPM Voices (www.rpmvoices.com) means every UNISONG will begin with a warm-up by RPM Voices founder and director, Dr. Clarice LaVerne Thompson. Our first guest leader in our new home was the remarkable Aubrey Atwater.

On Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 7pm, don’t miss Rachael Warren. Rachael joined the acting company at Trinity Repertory Company in the fall of 2002, having begun her work there in 2000 playing Eliza in their acclaimed production of MY FAIR LADY. Her hallmark is her ability to move from musical to dramatic roles fluidly, having played such diverse characters at Trinity as Ophelia in HAMLET, Anybodys in WEST SIDE STORY, Sabina in SKIN OF OUR TEETH &, in the spring of 2007, Luisa in THE FANTASTICKS. She is also a cabaret artist whose collaboration with long-time friend & Trinity's former Acting Artistic Director Amanda Dehnert has yielded 3 original works--STORIES: 20 SONGS, 20 LIVES, A WOMAN'S WORK & the full length rock musical road trip, SONGS OF INNOCENCE, SONGS OF EXPERIENCE. And did you just see her in CABARET???? We could go on and on!
In addition to her theatrical endeavors, she has worked locally as a teaching artist for Brown's Arts Literacy Project, is an active boardmember of The Manton Avenue Project & is very proud to be one of the first "brainstormers" of UNISONG. She is married to fellow Trinity actor Mauro Hantman.

UNISONG is a non-performance community singing session meeting monthly. UNISONG is lead by a different guest musical director each time to explore music from diverse sources. Conceived by Jodi Glass, a life-long music lover and community organizer, UNISONG has come to fruition with the help of Kathy Jellison, Priscilla Young, Rachael Warren, Rose Weaver and Cathy Clasper-Torch. “Music is a deeply powerful source for expression and can lead to positive change,” said Jodi. “With that in mind, we seek to bring together people from different cultures, generations, genders and musical experience or interest in order to learn from each other and have a good time making music.”

Participants don’t have to do the following in order to sing along: read music, attend every time, prep for any performance, prep at all, or have previous experience singing with a group.

-A $5 admission fee is requested- no one will be turned away-
