Event Description

(Middletown, RI) Child and Family announced today the addition of a Women’s Recovery Group to the growing list of counseling services provided by the agency. Women ages 20-80 who have a minimum of 6 months sobriety are invited to join these therapeutic sessions. The Women’s Recovery Group kicks off with 12 weekly sessions beginning Wednesday, February 10th from 5-6pm at the Child and Family Community Center, 31 John Clarke Road in Middletown.

“We are extremely excited to add this very important group session to our counseling offerings” stated Susan Bruce, Director of Counseling Services for Child and Family. “The weekly sessions, lead by seasoned professional Janice Schwartz, CAGS, MA, LMHC, LCDPII, will be an opportunity for women to share feelings and experiences. Janice has compassion and a passion for working with recovering individuals as well as their families. Her 17 years of counseling experience will help make it possible for women to focus on themselves and what they need in recovery.”

The format of the group includes education and therapy. Some of the topics will include needs for recovery, maintaining a support group, expressing feelings, art therapy, exploring your creative self and having fun in sobriety.

Insurance is accepted or $30.00 per group for the uninsured. Call 401-848-4199 for further information about the new Women’s recovery Group or for in-take information.
