Senator Reed On Hand as RIC Nursing School and the Providence VA Team Up for Veterans

John Eagan

A new partnership is aiming to improve the quality of care at hospitals in Rhode Island, especially the well-being of American veterans of war.

Senator Jack Reed, a supporter of veteran affairs, was on hand Wednesday as Rhode Island College's School of Nursing and the Providence VA Medical Center were chosen to be part of the National VA Nursing Academy.

It is a program that pairs VA's with top nursing schools across the country.  Their mission is to come up with new and innovative ways of caring for the rising numbers of aging and returning veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Rhode Island College is 1 of 10 nursing schools selected in the country, the only school chosen from Rhode Island.  In the first year of this program, the VA will pay the salary and benefits for 5 new teachers and RIC and will be able to accept 25 new students, all of this to address a shortage of nurses.

I am so sick of seeing Reed in the news all the time. Wake up people! This guy has voted over and over to fund the war and has taken 4 million dollars in this election cycle alone! Reed is so entrenched with the big banks and mortgage companies it's ridiculous - he voted to deregulate these big banks in 1999! When's the last time someone gave you 4 million dollars and didn't expect something in return? Reed also has a ZERO rating with the Christian Coalition. Chris Young HAS MY VOTE on Sept. 9th
