When I was a child, my dad's best friend lived in Barrington. We lived in Rumford. We would spend time (overnight) at each other's homes.  In the summer, of course my sister and I used to love to spend time sailing and swimming in Barrington. My father's friend's wife, was a former WAVE.  She took us, her three daughters and my sister and I  (Mid-1950's) to the Bristol Parade.  She taught us to put our hand over our hearts when the flag passed.

In the late 1960's my boyfriend and I were going to Horseneck Beach on the 4th of July and we found ourselves blocked because we were on the parade route.  We pulled over in a church parking lot and watched the parade.  It was great to share the experience with someone I cared about.

On July 4, 1973, My boyfriend and I were married. We've been married for 37 years.
