My heart goes out to Vicky and the Kennedy family. Even though I did not know Ted or any of you, you all remind me so much of my large irish catholic family. I for one will miss Ted as he was my favorite brother. I think because he was not perfect but was very much human and filled with compassion and love for not only his own family but his brother's families as well. He will truly be missed and I hope that one of the Kennedy's will follow Ted's dreams.

When I was in 3rd or 4th grade I wrote to Sen. Kennedy and as a child, I'msure that my handwriting was terrible and words were misspelled, but he took the time to write back to me and I remember it to this day I will remember it for the rest of my life. He was a VERY special man who took time out and cared for ANYBODY he came into contact and although I never met him personnaly, I will miss him deeply all because of a simple letter that he took time to write to a child.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Senator Kennedy. I lost my husband Oct. 16, 2007 and my daughter was only 7. She is away at a grief camp this week and it is a very emotional day for me. This passing has brought out some raw emotion that I have tried to hide for some time now. I pray that you will rest in peace and know that my husband Glenn will be waiting for you at the gates of heaven to give you a tour, and talk about his beloved Patriots and Red Sox. Your family has great strength.

Mrs. Kennedy always said to whom much is given much is expected. Ted Kennedy took those words to heart and did so much for this nation. Yet with so much given to the Kennedy family, there was so much tragedy. Yet the Senator kept the family grounded and became their rock. I can't imagine a world without this Kennedy; without the Camelot of old. It is a sad sad day. May God Bless the Kennedy family and help them through these difficult days. Senator you will be missed!

This is a sad day, indeed. Your brother taught me when at my young age of 18, to not ask what my country could do for me, but what I could do for my country. I lived in LA and vigorously supported Bobby during his run for president, and listened to the news of his assasination in horror. And you, lion that you are became the beacon of light in this world. You will be sorely missed. My heart goes out to you and your beloved family. Thank you. Rest in peace with your brothers.

Ted was able to do his life's work and leave a legacy, like his brothers', to be proud of -- perhaps the greatest of all. Support each other in this sad time.

Ted Kennedy was a great public benefactor who tirelessly fought to make the United States a better place for everyone. He was full of warmth, good humor, confidence and humility all at once. The right wing cranks who post here with their viciously nasty small minded snipes should reflect on a certain criminally insane mass murdering war profiteering thug who mixed himself a few cocktails, leaving others to deal with the companion he shot in the face.
