NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) - Rescuers plan to continue searching upper Narragansett Bay through the night for a clammer reported missing.

Coast Guard officials said Monday they are looking for a boat between Rocky Point off Warwick and Quonset Point in North Kingstown.

The Coast Guard said crews plan to continue searching for 47-year-old Chester Kidd of West Warwick through the night.

Kidd was fishing for quahog clams aboard his 18-foot boat when he called a friend from his cell phone, saying that his boat was going down and he needed help.

That friend called 911, which notified Coast Guard of the distress.

Winds at the scene were around 20 miles per hour, seas were around three feet and water temperature was 51 degrees.

Local firefighters and state officials are assisting in the search.

Did you even THINK the reason he called his friend was because there was no time and his friend might have known his location, But that would take some thought......please get alife and do not make matters worse for the family!
