Alleged Cranston Killer Had a History of Conflict with Neighbors

John Eagan

Nicholas Gianquitti had no criminal record until today.
But there were signs that this was a man who was obsessed with boundaries, particularly the ones surrounding his property.
ABC 6 has learned that Gianquitti went as far as filing a complaint with Cranston Police 2 years ago about neighborhood kids going on his property.
Three weeks later Adriana Pagano, wife of now deceased firefighter James Pagano, filed her own complaint.
She said Gianquitti used to watch her kids through his window, leaving her to question his intentions with them.
We also learned more about Gianquitti's brief tenure in the Providence Police Department.
As a rookie officer he shattered his knee chasing somebody down a hill at University Heights.
He was granted an accidental disability in 1993 that now pays him nearly $42,000 a year, tax free.
ABC 6 reporter Jim Hummel tries to unravel this alleged killer's past...

The city enabled this person to have too much free time by paying him for doing nothing. This set the scenario of a person sitting around collecting money while being home way too much. Maybe they should reconsider their policy as it happens way too often. (symapthy goes out to the Pagono family) Mark Markrush/Johnston RI

I heard recently that Pagano may have gone into Gianquitti's house after him, then the gun came out. If thats the case and the media left that part out of the story I WON'T BE SURPRISED !!! Lets wait and see.

I'm with Jimmy on this one. There's 2 sides to every story.

This is a tragedy...that anybody should die over something like this. None the less, I read where Pagano confronted Gianquitti and that "punches were thrown". Pagano appears to be a big guy...Gianquitti appears small and slight. Pagano was hosting a party for his son at the time. Had Pagano been drinking at the party? Did he punch Gianquitti? Did he do so on Gianquitti's property? Did Gianquitti feel his life was threatened? Did he fire in self defense? Jimmy D. Cranston

What an absolute shame. The poor Pagano family certainly did not deserve that to happen to them.
