It is Memorial Day, a holiday that means parades and barbecues, but also solemn remembrances for those who died fighting for freedom.
President Bush commemorated Monday with his 7th and final wreath laying at Arlington National Cemetery.
The President also called on Americans to observe a moment of remembrance at 3 o'clock.
Among those honoring the request today...Major League baseball players...
Here in Rhode Island political leaders joined the military, veterans, and their families for a ceremony at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery in Exeter.
Each took a few moments to honor those who've served our country.
Afterward people watched as Governor Carcieri helped carry a wreath out to the World War II monument...
But the mood in Lincoln this morning was upbeat.
The town was just one of several across the area celebrating Memorial Day with a parade.
Families of all ages lined the streets to cheer on our service men and women...
