Juan Diaz Arraigned for Pawtucket Murder

After a few hours' delay, Juan Diaz was arraigned in District Court in Providence this afternoon on charges that he shot and killed his girlfriend, 26-year-old Mayra Cruz, in their Pawtucket apartment.

Diaz was tracked down in Albany, New York, just one day later. According to prosecutors, he had assaulted her on at least one occasion previously.

Her friends and family witnessed his arraignment, all wearing shirts emblazoned with her picture.

ABC6 reporter Jennifer Gannon has more from Providence.
