Woonsocket Teen Accused of Raping Toddler to be Tried as Adult; Family Explodes Outside Court

A local boy accused of raping a 2-year old toddler was in court Tuesday after a family court judge ruled that he should be tried as an adult.  Although he is only 17, John Price's alleged crimes have landed him in Providence District Court.

Price is accused of biting, beating and raping his live-in girlfriend's 2-year old daughter.  Police say the Woonsocket teen was babysitting the toddler and her 3-year old brother on June 29th at the Boulevard housing project.  The 24-year old girlfriend came home and noticed red marks on her daughter's face and bruises down her back.  Doctors later determined that the girl had been raped. 

ABC 6 reporter Parker Gavigan was covering the arraignment Tuesday morning when Price's family became hostile to members of the press outside the court house...

I just have to say, I am a father of two and to hear this sort of thing makes me sick to my stomach!! More drastic steps need to be taken against people who commit vicious and unspeakable acts like these! If this were my child, this kid would be in trouble in more ways than one!

Should not the mother of these children be facing charges of child endangerment as well. First for leaving her kids with this man, second a 24 year old man with a 17 year old woman would be facing rape charges himself, why is she not facing charges of having sex with a minor herself. If he is only 17 then she has also violated laws.

Its sad to hear something like this happen! Could u image just a 2 year old little girl. I have a two year old and she cries for anything. could you just think about how that little girl was in pain and not knowing what was goin on. Why would the mother even leave her kids with a 17 year old that is not even a legal adult! Wasn't she at a neighbors house? How long was she gone? She must leave her kids all the time... Those kids would be better somewhere else in a nice home.
