UPDATE: Police Capture Suspect in East Providence Bank Robbery

John Eagan

Police have captured a suspect in the robbery of an East Providence bank earlier this week.  Laura Harris, 23, was taken into custody at the Comfort Inn on George Street in Pawtucket early Thursday morning.

Officials say Harris walked into the Sovereign Bank on Taunton Avenue in East Providence around 1:15 Monday afternoon.  Bank tellers told police she did not look anything like a bank robber.

Police say she handed a note to the teller demanding money.  As soon as she got the cash, she left the bank and jumped into a dark colored car.  Police had released pictures from the robbery and also had asked for the public's assistance in nabbing the suspect.

Officials say nobody was injured during the robbery but police have yet to recover the stolen money.
