Attorney of Man Who Blew .491 After I-95 Crash is Questioning Validity of Breathalyzer Test

John Eagan

Police say he was arrested with the highest blood alcohol level ever seen in the state, and Friday that man faced a judge.

This story has received national attention since it was first broken.  Doctors say the North Providence man is lucky to be alive after having a blood alcohol level 6 times the legal limit.

34-year old Stanley Kobeirowski crashed into a road sign last week on Route 95 near the Providence Place Mall.  When state police asked him for his license, he handed them a credit card, then blew a .491 on the Breathalyzer.

The legal limit is .08, and experts say when you approach a level of .40, there's a good chance of dying.  To get that drunk, Kobeirowski must have had about 24 drinks over a 6 hour period.  He is being arraigned in district court Friday.

ABC 6 reporter Parker Gavigan has more on this bizarre story, including how Kobeirowski's attorney is now questioning if the Breathalyzer test was calibrated correctly...

What Do You Think of the State's New Ability to Track Illegal Immigrants?

  • I Like it, illegal immigrants are finding work easily while I rot in line at the unemployment office
  • Bad Idea, These people are taking sub-minimum wage jobs anyway and actual citizens are getting snared in this E-Verify system
