Please Give ABC 6 Your Feedback on this Story Below...

John Eagan

ABC 6 has been doing some digging on this story all day, and we have confirmed that Governor Carcieri owes more than $12,000 in back taxes on real estate he and his wife own.

The governor says it was just a matter of having bills sent to the wrong address.  But for 2 years he has not paid taxes on 1 of 2 condo units the couple owns down in Florida.

Wednesday, the governor's office tells ABC 6, 'The check is in the mail'.

Great Job ABC6 for breaking these types of stories that the other two stations are too scared to do. Why should the governor and other state leaders be censored from the news they are members of the public are they not?

It must be slow news day, and once again ABC 6's bias towards the governor is obvious.

If it is Florida back taxes then he is unethcial. If he owes taxes to Rhode Island for the property he owns in Florida, then the state is scaring businesses and people of wealth out of here. Houston TX has 2M people twice the population of RI, but I estimated 8.5 times the number of millionaires. The reason being people can keep more of their money. Houstonians go out to dinner 3X a week avg and that does not include the pasta houses on Federal Hill. Houston's media reports on bad eateries.

If he had not paid taxed on either property, I would suspect something, but obviously it is a mailing error..Why would he pay taxes on 1 property and deliberatly disregard the other property. ABC 6- c'mon, where is your common sense?

What Do You Think of the State's New Ability to Track Illegal Immigrants?

  • I Like it, illegal immigrants are finding work easily while I rot in line at the unemployment office
  • Bad Idea, These people are taking sub-minimum wage jobs anyway and actual citizens are getting snared in this E-Verify system
