ABC 6 Asks Rhode Islanders: 'Who is Sarah Palin'?

John Eagan

Republican candidate John McCain has picked his running mate, and it's a woman who has flown under the radar...until now.  She is Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin.

So what do people in Rhode Island have to say about this relatively unknown governor, based in a state over 4,000 miles away?

We sent ABC 6 reporter Coleen Harry to find out...

I don't like McCain for President, I was looking at Bob Barr. My vote in Rhode Island does not count. But to all you Rhode Islanders this lady has a characerstic you DON'T have is ethics and principals. Just look at the clowns you vote in, all from the tribe. Cacieri, Cianci, Cicilline, Iron, Murphy, Fox, Montabalo, Massassa, and the rest. When are you going to learn what it means to be an American? Too many people here are Rogue Island rejects.

It seems only fitting that a washed up candidate would pick an unknown yet eligible female to try to cover up his ineptitude in the solutions that will help this country. His only answer is that he was a POW.Well I too was in nam and it was almost forty years ago but I do remember that John McCain was a drunk that if there hadn't been a war and his father wasn't who he was Mccain was on his way to a forced resignation. I also know a few POW's and not all of them speak highly of this person.

Do You Think the Rhode Island General Assembly Will Fix the Budget Deficit?

  • HA! No, they're going to chase their tails and point fingers and get nothing done. Business as usual.
  • I think some progress can be made. It's going to take some painful cuts and creativity, but we can do this.
