Taunton Family, Police Asking for Public's Help in Solving Double Murder

John Eagan

It's been more than seven months since two brothers were gunned down in their Taunton apartment.  Now police say they have some new leads.

Because the investigation is still ongoing, police won't say what new details have surfaced, but they will say it's not enough to make an arrest.  So they're posting fliers, looking for the public's help.

Hundreds of them are going out to Taunton residents and businesses today, displaying pictures of Kevin and Shawn Vargas.  The 21- and 23-year old brothers were killed behind their house on Somerset Avenue back in February.

Police believe someone may have seen or heard something that afternoon, and they are hoping that the fliers will help jog some memories.  If you have any information, please call the Taunton Police Department tipline at (508) 332-TIPS or send an email to vargasreward@hotmail.com.

I hope that they find the sick people that did such a terrible thing to these two boys. There children and family deserve the respect and peace of mind to finally put these two men to rest. I pray that there is still some good people left in the city of taunton to come forward and speak the truth. Hopefully with the finicial crisis it will sadly but hopefully bring some body to open there mouth to get the reward. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
