I don't see my family shouldering the cost of a $22K C-Section when we have BCBS Insurance. Even if our family was willing to deliver at another hospital, it would be Kent, another Care New England Hospital.

It would be a tragedy for patients with high risk pregnancies that need services at W&I to have to pay more out of pocket if an agreement cannot be reached. I may remind you, though, that most pregnancies are not "high risk" and could easily be served by their local community hospitals like South County Hospital. Steven Schneider, MD South County OB/GYN
