There is one thing you and the public school teachers don't understand. There are many other type of teachers other than public schools! Public schools should not be the only choice for parents of limited means to be stuck with, does this make sense? Megan have you seen the test scores for the Providence schools. That by no means is the students, it is the public school teachers slacking off. They do not know the material which means they should not be teaching, or are incapable of teaching.

The education of kids in Providence is a complex issue. It falls on the shoulders of families, teachers, administrators, school boards, state and local government, the students, and our society and culture. Props to the students who stuck up for their teachers. You can't point a finger solely at teachers, parents, or students. We need to do this together. If you care about the future of education in Providence, educate yourself about the govenor's proposed budget cuts. Those are scary.

I am a student at FHS and I have never been to a more caring school. They make sure I have all my assignments in on time and yeah it is a little aggrivating but I know it is for my own good. All of the teachers are really nice. Also they are helping me to better myself. Still after all that has happened it was still worth it.

I agree wit what my classmates have to say. Also if the other teachers at Providence Schools were as committed to their jobs like the teachers at feinstein high school, then maybe the students would do better. I'm not trying to say that the teachers out there are bad teachers but if you guys just help the students with the material you give them then the students would do better at school. Our teachers at feinstein high school help us become successful and we thank them for that.

Aside from what Crystal, who clearly isn't educated enough to write a sentence without spelling a word wrong and SHOULD START COMING TO SCHOOL, says.. Feinstein is a very respectable school and being a student who is on her forth year of coming to the school, have learned quite a lot. The teacher's are dedicated to teaching to the best of their abilities. We have occasional fights, but what school doesn't. Feinstein had provided me with what is required to attend college and for that im greatful

I attend Feinstein High school as a student and people shouldn't contradict the teachers and the school in general.Sure the area known as "Providence" isn't all that great, but as we all know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Great people aren't born they're made.Just take a look at our new president he struggled to get to where he is now and if most kids set they're mind to it then they can make it and many teachers at FHS are most committed to their job.So don't easily make assumptions.

I go to feinstein high school as well and the teachers here are great. They not only try and help us understand the material they teach us but they also help us out with the work they give us. Sometimes, mostly all the times, teachers stay after school to help us with our homework, projects, and test they give us and they do a very good job at it. They even try there best to help out the students who are behind in there work even the students who they have had before in the past.

What is going on with the kids in the schools I want school vouchers so parents can choose what schools their kids go to. If the parents care about their kids they would never send them to Providence Public schools unless it was to Classical. Even Classical is not what it used to be. Please parents take charge of your kids and their education. Do not leave to the teachers, adminstrators or the government to decide what is best for your kids.

99.9% of the problem begins at home. Absentee, alcoholic, drug addicted, uncaring parents. There's an old saying-"plant a cabbage-get a cabbage"-and here's the perfect example. These kids decide to remain illiterate by choice. They're more concerned with "gangsta life", smoking crack, and having babies at age 14. And when they fail, and go to prison, they always blame it on their "difficult upbringing". Perhaps if we did away with welfare, these bums might make something of their lives.

Comment: 500 Characters Left While viewing the channel 6abc’s video of an interview of a lilboy outside of Mt. Pleasant High School, who went onto make negative comments regarding the teachers and administrative staff of Mt. Pleasant High School. I thought to myself is anyone considering that this lilboy is cutting last period.

I hope the kids from Providence Schools read this post. Please tell you parents to demand school choice for your education. I would recomend you read the Cato report about education. If your parents don't speak or read english help them with this report. This is YOUR EDUCATION. I know many of you think the Mayor cares about the minorority community he does not. He is looking for cheap labor for his friends on the east side. I make sacrifices to have my kids go to private school. SCHOOL VOUCHERS!

Innocents all! You might want to check the academic, attendance and discipline records of your respondents. You might want to ask Providence Schools for the percentage of parents who attend parent conferences or open houses. Sadly, there are some burned out teachers whose resolve has been salted away by a district culture that embraces failure as the norm. Real accountability for teachers, students and parents takes courage and the willingness to abandon the cult of victimization.

When I was in high school no one cared what I thought. I did the work because I had to. I knew without an education I would have limited opportunities in life. While I may not have always have had the best teachers or been the best student I dealt with what I had.

While there are some teachers who are burned out, this is a minority at my school. I am here at school an hour before it starts and stay after many nights, yet students do not come for extra help. Many students come in late, if at all, do not do homework, study, read or appear to value the education we try to provide. Try to pull the ipod or phone from their ears, and it's a fight. We need teachers, students and families to value education in order to ensure student success.

Many high school teachers are not committed to excellence and there are numerous reasons for that sad fact. None are acceptable-we need to demand more of them. The basis of your report is a high school student group generated survey and a couple of very short comments from students at Mount Pleasant. This is hardly enough information for your viewers to reach informed opinions. May I suggest you ask for attendance and tardy numbers to cross reference the student commitment to their education? Pe

That's great that those kids are standing up for what they want. Unfortunately, the teachers are burnt out by so many kids who don't care. Like the report said 21% of the students are not satisfied. That means that 79% most likely don't care. No one is going to hand you a job. It is up to you to make your destiny. Just look at our President.
