Heavy Rains Mean Closed Beaches

Bryan Monaghan

So the weather's clearing up, this is a big holiday weekend, you're heading to the beach, right?

Maybe not.

As of Thursday night, 15 of the state's beaches have been shut down because of high bacteria levels in the water. The Rhode Island Health Department monitors the state's beaches, and blames the surge in shut-downs on the recent heavy rains, which cause sewage overflows, and other runoff problems to occur.

ABC 6 News Reporter Tom Langford has the list of beaches currently closed.
