4 Beaches Now Safe for Swimming

Chris Boardman

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - State health officials have declared four beaches safe for swimming.

The Department of Health said Friday that bacteria levels were within acceptable levels to reopen City Park Beach, Conimicut Point Beach and Gorton Pond Beach in Warwick, and Warren Town Beach in Warren.

Meanwhile, the department recommended closing Fort Adams State Park in Newport because of high bacteria counts.

Camp Grosvenor and North Kingstown Town beaches in North Kingstown and Peabody's and Third beaches in Middletown remain closed.

Officials say they will continue to monitor the water quality and recommend reopening when the areas are safe for swimming.
