On the day that Ryan Greenberg faced sentencing for killing his high-school friend Patrick Murphy with a motorboat, Murphy's father broke his long silence and addressed the court.  John Murphy called his son's death  "a needless, moronic, and cowardly act of violence," and urged Superior Court Judge Daniel A. Proccacini to "grant him justice."

I applaud the Murphy family for waiting until the trial to speak out. I can't believe Ryan Greenberg didn't turn to face them when he mumbled his statement. In my opinion, that said it all.

John Murphy's love of his son was so eloquently spoken - I only wish for the Murphy family that the sentence was longer the heartless individual who stole such a precious life. God bless Patrick and his family.
