Home Invasion Leads to Chase, Standoff With Police

Bryan Monaghan

A home invasion in Rehoboth, MA, on Friday afternoon ends in an hours-long standoff with police in Pawtucket, RI.

John Keough of Malden, MA, is accused of breaking into a home in Rehoboth, tying up the woman inside, and taking off with her car. Authorities chased Keough through Rehoboth and Seekonk, MA, and East Providence and Pawtucket, RI, until Keough ditched the car and jumped into a river in Slater Park in Pawtucket.

He then held police at bay, threatening to shoot himself with the gun used in the home invasion. Police negotiators were able to convince Keough to give himself up, and he was taken into custody.

ABC 6 News Reporter Malini Basu has the story from Rehoboth.

John Keough has ruined many lives with this crime and whatever secrets he has lying in his closet. I hope the boys of Walpole State prison treat him real good. And by good I'm being sarcastic.

John Keough is the president of Keough Enterprises, which has control of Keough Gaming. This company owes people at the convention called "GameuniCON 2009" alot of money. Something needs to be done

That man owes $80,000 for a gaming event that he hosted. Many, many people that either won money or help organize the event deserve something, but now I doubt that will happen now.

No Name-one of the smartest responses I've seen in a long time. Why didn't you just write, "I know you are but what am I." Maybe one of the kids at your picnic could come up with something intelligent for you. Or better yet, address the facts and post a response that may result in an intelligent conversation.

No Name-there was an attempted bank robbery involved, that's how EPPD came across the guy in the first place, get YOUR facts straight. If my kids were in the park and I saw that they were scared what I would do is this, PUT THEM IN THE CAR AND LEAVE!!! Don't think I'd need any police help with that! We all have to varying degrees a thing called COMMON SENSE, just because you have little or choose not to use what you have doesn't mean you came blame other people for your bad decisions.

you wasn't there you didn't see those children so what ever to you. I never said forget about the people of that home invasion those were your words. They had that guy trapped and still the cops did nothing. I suppose you would feel differently if your kids were actually there. But I' m sure the weren't cause you have no clue.

No Name...you can't be serious. Maybe next time the Pawtucket PD will just let the armed gunman go running free so your kids picnic doesn't get ruined. Don't want the kids to miss out...forget about the victims of the home invasion and bank robbery!

butterflykisses...hmm...lets see...lots of police running around with guns drawn, putting up crime scene tape to keep people away, fire trucks, TV trucks, police helicopters...these things are call "clues". Maybe an adult, like yourself, would have the sense enough to say,"this area may be unsafe for my child, maybe we should leave." Instead of needing the cops to handhold you. Personal responsibility instead of blame give it a try.

Anonymous was your kid there at the park yesterday probably NOT. For if they had been you might think a bit differently about this whole situation. You wasn't there you don't know what those kids went through and how scared they were. I was and I saw there fear.It was a number of Police dept's, and not one of them said a word to the teachers or the PTO about what was going on. Those kids didn't deserve to have there day ruined.

Anonymous it was too the Pawtucket Police it was also othr police deptartments that was involved. But there was a scholl picnic going on up there at Slater Park and the Pawtucket Police did nothing to help get those kids out of harms way. They at least could have told the PTO to get those kids out of there right away or even explain to the PTO what was going on but no the Pawtucket police didn't do s--- to help them out.

Hey AM Anonymous, a police force is one of the few things government should provide. Perhaps if those towns didn't waste money on things like clean needles for junkies, bilingual education, ACORN, "liaisons to the community", and bogus, cushy city jobs for friends and families of political hacks, they wouldn't have to cut things like police and fire fighting forces.

Home invasions are dramatically on the rise everywhere. The FBI says that a home is invaded once every 12 seconds. Burglars mainly just "kick in" doors. They can usually get through your door in less than 1 second with one good well placed kick. It happens most often due to door frame failure. Wood door frames can't hold up to the impact. The Door Security Pro prevents home invasions due to door kick-ins. Easy to install and lasts forever. http://www.DoorSecurityPro.com
