FALMOUTH POLICE: Assault Victim Waves Bat at Attackers, Suspect Crashes into Cop Car

According to Falmouth cops, an assault victim intended to go down swinging.
The, victim, a 40 year old man, arrived at a Heather Lane residence to pick up his teenage daughter. The suspect, Richard Searles, 22 of North Falmouth and two other men approached the victim, according to police.
Searles pushed and slapped the victim and threatened to shoot him with a shotgun, prompting the victim to go to his car to retrieve a bat to defend himself, per the police report.
Officer Elvira Ferrer observed the victim waving the bat when arriving at the scene, only for her cruiser to be hit head-on by the suspect Searles' pick up truck head on, according to the police press release.
Searles was arrested and charged with OUI Liquor, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Assault and Battery and Threat to Commit a Crime (Murder).
No injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
