Yeah, I would also like to know the confirmed cases in RI that have made a full recovery!?!?! I'm so sick of the media scaring the death out of us with only the bad news of the virus...we ALL know it's deadly...(God, please help these poor people that are suffering from their losses, I really do feel so sad for them) This is getting very depressing, and quite frankly, I am stressed from hearing the negativity of the virus on the news! I think it time to get on with the good news for a change!

Their intention is not to scare you. There are two goals of news stations. Keep you informed and Keep you watching. Making people scared is a consequence of keeping you informed. Keeping you watching improves their ratings and profit margin

I agree with Angela - Although the deaths are certainly tragic, there are lots of families (such as ours) who have had H1N1 blow through their homes this past week, with only mild symptoms and are now fully recovered, kids are already back in school. The media is clearly not reporting that side of the story, they only cover the panic and fatalities.

I think the overall point from Angela and Anonymous is that you only hear the negative side of the coin with swine flu or for most news stories for that matter. The consequence of that whether unintended or not is that it will keep you tuned into the news.

Angela, "always" reporting deaths encourages people to understand and respect the serious threat posed by this virus. Anonymous, so are you suggesting that rather than "scaring people", you would prefer that the reporters put the blame on these suffering families, and/or speculate about a "misdiagnosis" from the families' doctors? In what possible way would reporting on these mean and paranoid guesses of yours help people? 3 deaths in a week is justifiably newsworthy, you bozos.

I agree with Angela! Instead of scaring people why dont you report how many kids are sick and recovering fine. Or one key thing did these deaths result in failure to see a Dr when they became ill with high fevers? Or misdiagnosis from the Dr's?
