Canadian Study Reponse from CDC web: http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/vaccination/public/ CDC has reviewed data from studies done in the United States, and these studies along with a published study from Australia found that receipt of seasonal influenza vaccine neither increased nor decreased the risk of getting 2009 H1N1 influenza. In contrast, a small published study from Mexico found that seasonal vaccine provided some protection against 2009 H1N1.

This is the best source for information on the swine flu. It answers many questions. http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/vaccination/public/vaccination_qa_pub.htm

As of June 2009, the CDC reported this: "Is there a vaccine for swine flu? Vaccines are available to be given to pigs to prevent swine influenza. There is no vaccine to protect humans from swine flu. The seasonal influenza vaccine will likely help provide partial protection against swine H3N2, but not swine H1N1 viruses." Source: http://www.cdc.gov/flu/swineflu/key_facts.htm Today, Nov 2009 there is a vaccine. This vaccine is way to new for me to administer to my child.

My sister is among those with health issues (high risk). I contacted her primary care doctor and he is not providing the H1N1 vaccines to any of his patients. Since I got a negative response from him and I am really concern about my sister situation; I contacted the RI Hospital and I obtained a negative response as well. She is an adult with liver disorders. What should I do? Where can she get this vaccine when it gets available to this group of people?

I don't understand. I've called my doctor's office, the flu hotline, and the department of health for weeks and everyone is saying that no one in the state of RI has any of either flu shots, so how this state be a model for anything. I guess the best way to fight the flu is to have no one vaccinated.

I would like to hear more about people who had complications after receiving the shot. No one is mentioning anything about the bad reaactions.

This is a joke. I have two high risk children and my wife is pregnant. Guess what, none of them have been given the vacine. The OB office says call, but they don't take a list and you can't get a straight answer from there or the department of health. How come the head pediatric doctor for the state had the shots at her office three weeks ago? Some politics to check into there ABC6!

Rhode Island is puny and the swine flu is overrated. The usual flu is more dangerous. Seriously people... If the news tell you that smiling is dangerous, will everyone stop?

My sisters son had what we now strongly suspect was the H1N1 last spring. It was right after they stopped testing all cases. He is now on high dose steriods (2 months) and cannot get the vaccine. Is there a test for prior exposure/immunity...any kind of titers testing?

I have a 6 week old baby who cannot be vaccinated. I also have 2 school aged children who will not be vaccinated until December. If one of my school aged children comes down with suspected H1N1, other than obvious quaritine and hygiene precautions, what can I do to minimize the chances of myself or another family member contracting the flu. You can understand I must do everything to protect the baby. Could I take take tamiflu or antibiotics? If so, when and when do I contact my dr.
