Suspects Arrested with 'Vast Assortment' of Illegal Prescription Pills, Released

UPDATE: According to Westport Police, both suspects arrested were released on personal recognizance.

On December 30, 2009 the Westport Police arrested a male and a female at their residence located at 259 Division Road in Westport. Officer’s Bryan McCarthy and Mike Silvia began the investigation after receiving information that the pair was selling drugs from their home.

Several officers executed a search warrant on the 30th and both Robert J. Oliver, age 54 and his wife Joann Oliver, age 49 were arrested after officers located nearly one pound of marijuana packaged for sale throughout the home. Officers also located a vast assortment of illegal prescription pills that included Morphine, Oxycodone, Diazepam, Hydrocodone, Lithium and Penicillin. During the search officers located a shotgun and hundreds of rounds of ammunition including approximately $ 2,500 dollars in cash.

Mr. Oliver was charged with Possession of a Firearm without a License, Illegal Possession of Ammunition, Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Laws and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. He will also be charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class A Morphine and Class C Diazepam.

Mrs. Oliver was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D Marijuana and Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Laws. During the search officers located an untagged / illegally killed deer dressed inside a storage container on the property.

The Westport police were assisted by Dartmouth Police Officer Jared White and K9 partner “Topper” as well as the Massachusetts Environmental Police.

Both were arraigned in Fall River Second District Court on December 31st.
