165 Mass. Soldiers Coming Home From Iraq

TAUNTON, Mass. - The Massachusetts National Guard and the city of Taunton will formally welcome home approximately 165 Soldiers from the 772 Military Police Company, on Sunday, Feb, 7, 2010 at 1p.m., at the Taunton High School Field House, Taunton.

The 772 deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom for 12 months and were responsible for training, mentoring and coaching Iraqi Police.

This event will be a formal ceremony recognizing the unit’s service and officially welcoming the Soldiers’ home. The ceremony will feature the presentation of awards and guest speakers.

Spc. Matthew M. Pollini, 21, a Rockland resident and member of the 772 Military Police Company, died Jan 22, 2009 near Al Kut, Iraq, of injuries sustained during a vehicle roll-over.
