PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - It's another sign the holiday season has arrived.

The "Dancing Cop" is expected to return to Providence's downtown today at noon, directing traffic while dancing in the street.

Retired Providence Police Officer Tony Lapore began the holiday tradition about two decades ago.

City officials say he'll make his first appearance starting today at the intersection of Weybosset and Dorrance streets.

He'll perform at five more intersections before Christmas.
