ABC's " Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" rebuilds home in Warwick

Regent Ducas

Ken and Doreen Silva are going to Disney World.

But while they're gone, the crew of ABC's Extreme Makeover Home Edition will tear down and rebuild their home in Warwick.

The Silva's are foster parents and adopted three boys. They recently learned their children tested positive for having high levels of lead in their system. It was discovered their home and backyard contained dangerous levels of lead.

The Silva's tried to fix it on their own but with limited resources failed to remove the lead. According to ABC, the Health Department informed them that they may take their foster children out of the home.

The family was surprised early this morning and will go on vacation to Disney World for the next seven days.

With the help of local builder "Oldport Homes" and hundreds of volunteers and workers, the show plans on rebuilding the home in seven days.

ABC-6 will document the amazing story throughout the next week. Tune in to ABC-6 First at Four and ABC.com for the latest video from the scene. ABC-6's Paul Mueller will also post a daily blog from the home.

Do You Think the Rhode Island General Assembly Will Fix the Budget Deficit?

  • HA! No, they're going to chase their tails and point fingers and get nothing done. Business as usual.
  • I think some progress can be made. It's going to take some painful cuts and creativity, but we can do this.
