Programming Changes Come to ABC6

Chris Boardman

An important programming note for all of our ABC6 viewers. ABC6 has suspended its programming agreement with King World, and will no longer carry their programming effective midnight tonight. The syndicated shows involved are Doctor Phil, Entertainment Tonight, and Inside Edition.

In place of these programs, ABC6 will air the following schedule Monday through Friday.

At 5pm, tune in for Cristina's court, followed at 5:30 by Family Court, of course, ABC6 News at 6 will be seen at its usual time, followed at 6:30 by World News Tonight with Charles Gibson.

Then at 7, beginning Monday, Southern New England's "only" local news at 7pm, ABC6 news at 7, and finally, at 7:30, tune in for "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?"

ABC6 General Manager Steve Doerr says, quote: "We have been working with King World for many months to try to reach an amicable agreement. Unfortunately we were unable to reach an agreement."

Doerr goes on to say: "The economics of television have changed and successful stations like WLNE must invest in more local programming to stay competitive."
