Providence's New Trash Rules Kick In

Bryan Monaghan

If you live in Providence, and its trash day, make sure you have your recycling bins out with your trash. If you don't, your garbage probably won't be picked up. Its part of a new program in certain cities and town to increase and encourage recycling.

ABC 6 News Reporter Malini Basuh as the story.

Channel 10 did this story last night, and Channel 12 did it on the 11th. It's not "exclusive". Also, your Malini's last name is not spelled correctly your web story.

I think the residents should have some say on this rule-which is absoluitley ridiculous. Times are difficult enough--what is our Mayor trying to prove? Has he considered the elderly and disabled population? I personally think this was a very poor move on his part, as it could have been handeled with more diplomacy.

We live on Bradley St in Providence. This past Tue I had put out all my leave bags with the big green bin 4 them, my regular trash can and my recycle bins. Well, still today 3 days later both big green bins are still sitting there, FULL. My trash bin and the leave bin. On this street there are about 5-7 trash bins that did not get picked up and those ppl had put their recycle bins out. I don't get it...whats the excuse for that?? Nice welcoming to a new city.
