I don't blame Tobin for defending the church's beliefs. Kennedy went after them so, it is just simply their responsibility to defend themselves/reiterate their position. This would have never happened otherwise. People seem to be painting the church as the villian instead of the unpredictable addict.

I guess the fine Bishop does not understand the separation of church and state! I am catholic and will not give the church another penny until they clean their house and leave mine alone. I bet he learned this arm twisting from the special interest groups and big corporate contributors.

Father GOD save us from Aliens, Episcopalians and everyone else who turns Catholic from hate -- and Father GOD please keep all Bishops and Clergy far, far away from the Statehouse door-gate. In the land of Free Thinkers, this Bishop has blinkers.

Please learn about Church doctrine before promulgating ridiculous, broad generalizations (e.g., absolutely no birth control). The Church has plenty of faults without propagating falsehoods, either through ignorance or intention.

Here we go again, a church attempting to influence our politics. We in California had the Mormon church in Utah persuading and funding their own that civil rights should be limited to those couples they (the Mormons) thought were acceptable. The Catholic church has some of the most restrictive policies...no women priests, no married priests and of course, absolutely no birth control...maybe they worry they are running of out future Catholics??

The church has no business in trying to influence policy and is in violation of chruch and state IMO. Very inappropriate on behalf of the Bishop, they should focus on the children who are living with the trauma they suffered at the hands of clergy.............if the church really wanted to protect the lives of children why didn't they???
