Division of Station Fire Settlement to Kids Broken Down in Report

Chris Boardman

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A new report filed in Rhode Island's
federal court shows how much money children affected by a 2003
nightclub fire should receive from a $176 million settlement.

The report was prepared by William Poore, an outside lawyer
hired to review death and personal injury claims from the dozens of
children affected by the Station nightclub fire that killed 100
people and injured more than 200 others.

The report says the 41 children who lost a parent in the fire
and were under 18 at the time should receive an average gross share of $202,000.

Too bad so many of the parents of children who died at the station fire did not have life insurance! When will people learn life insurance protects those left behind?

Sorry Ernie, we will have to wait for another article on that. We should really try to stick to the tragedy referenced in the article.

Why is it limited to children under 18? Are children over 18 also being given some sort of monitary benefits? I know several who are over 18.

I would like to know how much money the surviving children get for parents who were and will be killed in the wars we are currently fighting.
