Westerly Man Finally Gets to Develop His Land After 50 Year Wait

John Eagan

Some beach front property is about to hit the market in Westerly, nearly a half of a century after the owner bought it.

Tucked away along Winnipaug Pond, the single plot of land is peaceful and isolated, and after more than 50 years the owner's goal of developing it is finally complete.

Anthony Palazzolo's battle to build in the area brought him all the way to the Supreme Court.

Palazzolo says he originally envisioned a beach club on the 18 acres of salt marsh just feet from the ocean.  In the end he was approved to build one house.

After more than half a century of securing the permits to build along the wetlands, he hopes to make the construction hassle free for potential buyers.

Good story. I hope the man makes a lot of money off this deal considering he has been paying taxes, lawyer fees, etc for years.
