There is still no sign of a missing Rhode Island man last spotted in the Douglas State Forest in Central Massachusetts. And now the search has been scaled back some.
Friday afternoon, helicopters circled the area, but that was about it. Police are just hoping that 34-year old Brian Silva of Smithfield will turn up safe and sound.
Silva's girlfriend called police Thursday morning after finding his car abandoned near the forest. His cell phone and wallet were still inside the vehicle. His family tells neighbors that he is bipolar, and that when he skips his medication he becomes disoriented and sometimes wanders off.
Nearly 100 people combed the woods and Wallum Lake Thursday to no avail. Investigators suspect no foul play. But anyone with information should call police.
