Police have released the names of the 5 West Warwick officers who were placed on administrative duty after a suspect died in their custody over the weekend.
We also know that 3 of these men are back on the streets as of Tuesday. But the two officers involved in the actual altercation are still on administrative leave.
Days after 47-year old Mark Jackson died in West Warwick Police custody, the department released the names during a press conference.
Patrolmen Patrick Kelly and Sean Lukowicz were the first to respond to the scene behind Joyal's Liquors Friday night on reports of vandalism. They used pepper spray and batons on Jackson when he reportedly became combative. That is when officers Thomas Nye, Michael Nye, and Marcus Palazzo were called in for backup.
It was inside one of the police cruisers, minutes later when the officers discovered Jackson wasn't breathing. Police say an initial investigation revealed that the 3 officers called in for backup had limited involvement and are now cleared to head back out on the street.

killed that man. No doubt. That liquer store is less than three minnutes drive from the police station. There is no way that man went from unresponsive to lifeless in the back seat of that cruiser in less than three minnutes. No way. I believe the police threw him already dead into that car. The cops went too far and are looking for any way to cover their butts. This is sad. Very sad.
