UPDATE: - Foster-Glocester School Officials Speak Out On School's Opening

Tuesday night, ABC 6 News brought you reaction from parents of students in Foster-Glocester school district, angry that their children were going back to school later because of construction. Some claimed they weren't aware their kids would be losing their February vacation as a result.

After the story aired, reaction from school officials was strong, claiming that the delays were needed, and were actually meant to benefit the students.

ABC 6 News Anchor Paul Mueller has the update Wednesday, as those school officials speak out to answer the questions of their student's parents.

Just finding it funny that the only person (Paula)with negative things to say about the school improvements is the only one with spelling errors....maybe the improvements should have been made earlier! Good job Glocester for voting to make the Middle and High Schools the best they can be, so they can produce an educated population. The voters have made a great choice for the future of their town.

The old school was not only too small for the current student population, it was unsafe, unhealthy and falling apart. If there had been a fire or some other calamity, these same nay-sayers would have been yelling about why nothing had been done. Through much effort, we now have buildings which will provide a safe, healthy environment for generations to come. So Foster/Glocester schools start late this year...a small price to pay in the bigger scheme of things.

It isn’t a waste of taxpayer’s money at all. I am a student at Ponaganset High School and it is a little ridiculous that we are not back in school. But the schools will benefit the students in the long run. The old school was way to small for the number of kids moving into our region. If the construction workers go over their dead line it is completely fine we will eventually make up the days. The money the tax payers put in and all the citizens that voted yes for the new school is appreciated

This is a waste of tax payers money.We dont even have enough students too fill the school.Why is the construction co not being fined for every day they dont meet the dead line?If people would attend the meetings and vote against what the school commity votes on we would have a better chance too avoid all of this.
