Hey buddy, you're not gonna be in school until July, don't worry. The whole reason they took a vacation or two away was so they could hit the legally mandated 180 days of school and you students wouldn't be complaining about being in school in July. As for your Christmas vacation, enjoy it, you'll be getting a nice extended one as Christmas eve falls on a Wednesday, you normally don't go back until January 2nd, but thats a Friday, so they might just send you back on the 5th.

As we all know, whenever building is involved it is NEVER completed in the alotted time frame. What concerns me the most is the fact that the students will suffer in their academics. They will be behind the other schools as far as their agendas, not to mention the sports programs. Are there any? Perhaps they should have split the project and worked on it in pieces according to the most important thing first. It is UNFAIR to working parents to deal w.-what will I do w. the kids

Its not like the students even choose for this school to go under contruction, so why should we be punished by us getting our vacation taking away. Thats not fair too any of us, and they shoulds start the elementary school before us, the bus can still run, its not even running the same time, as middle & high school starts, so there is no reason, the elementary schools cant start. People have jobs they need to get back work, they cant just sit around waiting for the high school to be done.

In most of these comments people are blaming the workers...it can't be their fault, they are just doing what they are told and they aren't going to work extra hours unless they are PAID...the root of the problem would be the people running the whole operation. Plans overlapping and just plain stupidity are the creators of the problems we are facing. Everyone get prepared for NECAP and other testing situations at our school to become less successful and people to be more stressed out than ever...

There is no sound educational reason for postponing the start of school at the middle or elementary schools. The school committee and the town council are both playing power games and playing with the lives of students, teachers and parents alike. I would like to see the school committee members and town council members loose the family vacations they have paid for during February vacation. I bet that won't happen.

this school is messed up, yeah we needed it fixed up but they should have thought a head of time. noting is ever on time, so obviously you need to make time for things that run late which they didn't. im ready to say goodbye to pono and get going in a new school. its rediculous that because you guys arent dont at time that the students and teachers vacations get taken away. if we dont start soon i hope pono loosing a lot of its students.

i have a relative that works in construction, and he says that when a building inspector says that it's not good enough, there's no way around it. that means there's a really good chance that we're looking at another week before we start, which means so long april vacation, hello complete insanity.

This is the fault of the Glocester Town Council who has done nothing but try to ruin this project from the start..if they hadn't played games and wasted everyone's time over NONSENSE, this project would have been finished a long time ago. You can thank them for this delay, and at the same time thank them for wasting your tax dollars.

So if you call the middle school, they say no school until the 10th, but if you call Fogarty, they say as far as they know the first day is the 8th. Is there any one person who knows what's going on over there?

All the comments i read are disappointing because they're freaking out about time but yet they cant get the situation under control. my schedule is messed up bad and we called this morning and finally go to the guidance office to leave a message but his inbox was full. they said we could call but yet they cant control their actions. its getting really annoying and they need to fix all of it. i just want to go back to school and get this craziness over with.

So obviously all these renovations were needed, and will help everyone in the long run. It is still rediculous though, this should have all been planned out ahead of time so this entire mess could be avoided. The entire school year is going to be hectic now, and i also believe it's illegal to keep students in school until July.

This is ridiculous. I have heard so many rumors about when school is going to start. I have heard another week and Wednesday. Why can't the builders put in extra time to get this project done by Monday? I like my vacation time in April as well as February. I really do not want to go to school all the way through January to the middle of June. That is just crazy. I went to the school the other day and it looked like it wouldn't be done for a while. These builders need to work a little harder!!

i find it a little ridiculous that the district couldn't figure out a way for another bus route while the high school was being fixed. I'm pretty sure all the schools are ready to start. I don't want something as foolish as this to ruin our year. Even teachers are probably as upset as I am. For the past three weeks I have been hearing dates from late september to early october. Did they ever think about parents who can't leave their kids at home while they go to work?

I think this is all being a little ridiculous now. We are probably the only school in the country who hasn't started yet. The school must have been crazy when they thought this whole thing was going to be done in time. And now they are taking vacations away from us. That's OUR time, that we deserve after all the work we put in all year. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't start Monday, or even Wednesday. I don't want to start school in another two weeks, I want to get it over with!

I was a student at the high school several years ago, and let me tell ya, that building needed this renovation. The air circulation was horrible, we had classes in windowless rooms that were meant to be storage areas, the cafeteria so small that there were something like 6 lunch periods , there were leaks in the ceilings...Even though it's expensive for a town to do these projects, this one was needed and the voters got it right .

Fogarty is ready to accept students today--why does everyone else have to start late to accomodate the high school? It's friday, and my boss would love to know if I'm coming to work on Monday...

This is really stupid that we have to start school so late. The stundents of this school are ready to go back and if we don't soon, other vacations will be taken and there will be even more chaos to deal with. Construction was supposed to be done on time and it wasn't. If they keep backing it up we will never get to school.

This really upsets me, about two weeks ago I went around the school to see how much work was actually done, it was around 3 o'clock on a Friday, there were no workers to be found. If the workers actually worked this summer we might of gone to school on time. I am a Senior at Ponaganset, all I want to do is graduate. With them taking away February Vac. I think is pointless because we always have snow which means snow days,which will extend the year. I just want to graduate.

I tried to call the high school this morning (September 5th) multiple times. Almost all of the schedules this year are messed up and I was trying to fix mine, as they said the guidance office would open this morning for calls. After calling for a half an hour I was transferred to the middle school where they told me as of no-no school until WEDNESDAY. I am a senior at Ponaganset. If they take away April Vacation I have to make up about a weeks work because of a school trip.
