Judge Gives Katherine Bunnell Life in Prison for Beating Nephew to Death

The Associated Press

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A woman convicted of beating her 3-year-old nephew to death has been sentenced to life in prison for a second-degree murder conviction.

A jury convicted Katherine Bunnell in May for the 2004 beating death of Thomas "T.J." Wright, who was living with her in foster care because his mother was in prison.

Bunnell apologized today before she was sentenced. She said she took responsibility for the child's death but denied making the fatal blows.

ABC6 Reporter Parker Gavigan was on hand as the judge handed down the life sentence...

Everytime I see that child's beautiful face, I want to cry. I can't imagine the pain he endured that night. I was happy to hear that the aunt got life in prison with possibility of parole in 25 years. I hope she rots in jail she doesn't deserve to breathe the air we breathe. May T.J. rest in peace. Although he'll never know, he's in a better place. Such a little angel..

The sentence she got is well deserve.I was T.J brothers foster mom after this horriable thing happen. What his brothers went through was terrible not childis young should have to have this kind of memory to last them for the rest of thier life, like the one now his brothers Mickey and David have to endure for the rest of their life.I know this sentence will not bring back their brother nor will it compare to what the aunt will have on her consience for the rest of her life.Rest In Peace T.J
