UPDATE: Target of Manhunt Has a History of Violent Behavior

John Eagan

Police in several states are still searching for 41-year old William Otte, considered armed and dangerous, after he allegedly threatened the life of his soon to be father-in-law.  He then took off with his 18-year old bride, Ashley Dias by his side.

Otte is on the run after he called Coventry Police around 5am Wednesday morning from a local body shop saying he had a rifle and was wearing full body armor, and wanted to talk to his wife's step father-to-be.

Coventry Police and several other departments sent SWAT teams to the location, but Otte and his wife had already fled the scene.  Some area schools were put on lock down because of the threat.  But officials eventually cleared the area and began an interstate manhunt for Otte.

Otte is well known to police not only in Coventry, but around the state.  His rap sheet dates back to 1998, and includes 9 counts of assault, along with charges of breaking and entering and disorderly conduct.

Also, in continuation to the last comment; some of the charges against William Otte and the treatment he had to endure from the police has been and still is being investigated by higher officials. Some of the charges and treatment was highly illegal.

By the way, did anyone take note that all the charges against William Otte were dismissed? I do not think you did.

No one knows where he is. I do not even know where he is. However, we were not in Thomasville, NC at any point in our travels. He did not threaten anyone in NC or RI for that matter.

What Do You Think of the State's New Ability to Track Illegal Immigrants?

  • I Like it, illegal immigrants are finding work easily while I rot in line at the unemployment office
  • Bad Idea, These people are taking sub-minimum wage jobs anyway and actual citizens are getting snared in this E-Verify system
