You people don't know cold. In at Int'l Falls - 50F. The state of ME had -50F. These are not wind chill factors these are temperatures. Ask the service members station in AK how cold it is during Operation Brim Frost. When I was in AK it was -35 F there was no wind. It was cold, when it went up to 5F above that felt nice. It is all relative. The weather we had last week is the lower norm for RI, get over it. You people make me sick. You are so dependent on others, how do you survive.

This is an excuse for the school boards to appease the teachers. How many of the kids are now hanging out because school is out? How many parents did not get paid for Thursday and Friday because they had to stay home? It is time to be realistic, not many families in this state have a parent that stays at home with the children, that is courtesy of the elected officals who buy off their idiot relatives or the municapal unions especialy the NEA. It is time for school vouchers, RI need a chance!

I think school should be cancelled when it is very cold out side. I'm a parent and yes this is New England but we havent had temps like this in a while. Also most parents keep their kids at home and guess what city and school buses are not always on time. I wont be sending my child send yours if want to.

I understand that school officials are worried about the children not being prepared for the cold, but the parents of those children should be making sure that their children are prepared for the cold weather and that they are NOT walking to school and make other arrangements for them to get to school. The schools are heated and the children will be warm there, if they keep canceling what will happen at the end of the year when the weather gets too hot like last year?

This is not rare weather for RI the kids should have been in school today. Get your kids hats, gloves or mittens. No ear muffs or hair bands, they do not keep you warm. It is a shame that so many people in this state are so stupid when it comes to staying warm. This is not the first time RIer's showed their stupidity. During the blizzard of '78 19 people died on I 95 in Providence due to carbon monoxide posioning. These people were within 100 yards of the civic center or then the Holiday Inn.

Forget the school buses. What about students who have to drive to school? Do these parents forget that they're cars need to warm up? Do these parents realize that plenty of kids need to walk home everyday? When it's too cold there should not be school.
