S. Kingstown Lawyer Running for Attorney General

Chris Boardman

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Republican defense lawyer Erik Wallin
says he plans to run for Rhode Island attorney general.

The South Kingstown resident and former state prosecutor, who
created a campaign fundraising committee in February, ended
speculation about his plans Wednesday when he filed an updated notice of organization form with the state Board of Elections.

The 39-year-old Wallin tells The Providence Journal his goals
are to lead an attorney general's office that is more aggressive in fighting public corruption and more hands-on in helping cities and towns deal with sex offenders and gang violence.

So far, one Democrat has announced his intention to run.

Current attorney general Patrick Lynch cannot run because of
term limits.

Hope the next one issues pistol carry permits. Its sad when Lynch declines them when we live in a shall issue state. We have a right to protection.

Hope he is better than Lynch. The lets make a deal and not fight cases makes RI a haven for criminals. When an AG claims he/she a 95% conviction rate, and 90% are pleas or plea deals, and the other 5% are negotiated wins, that's is sad, not good prosecution.
