Free Holiday Shopping Parking in Providence

Chris Boardman

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Holiday shoppers are being invited to
park for free in Providence.

The city is starting its free holiday parking program again this week. It's scheduled to last through Jan. 1.

The program allows drivers to park for free at meters and park
without time limits at non-metered spaces in the capital city's
main shopping areas. Those include downtown, on several streets on the East Side and on sections of Atwells Avenue, Broad Street and Olneyville Square.

The city reminds people that they still can't park their cars in
prohibited areas such as crosswalks and tow zones.
