Computer Hard Drives Stolen from Woonsocket City Hall

Chris Boardman

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Police are investigating the disappearance of two hard drives from Woonsocket City Hall.

The missing drives were first reported Wednesday by WPRI-TV.

Rhode Island State Police Capt. Dave Neill on Thursday says its
computer crimes unit is assisting Woonsocket police.

Neill won't say who the computers were assigned to. But he says
the people who use the computers turned in two drives after they were reported missing.

He says State Police are now working to determine if the drives
they turned in are the same ones that were taken.

Mayor Susan Menard did not immediately return a phone message seeking comment. She did not run for re-election after 14 years in office, and her term ends in January.
