Suspect in Fall River Daytime Shooting is Freetown Man

John Eagan

The suspect in Thursday's lunchtime shooting in Downtown Fall River is now in custody.
Police identify the suspect as 35-year-old Tobey Bell from East Freetown, who is being held at the Fall River Police Department.
Police say he pulled the trigger at least six times, in a neighborhood where many people were out getting lunch.
Instead, they were running for their lives.
Bell allegedly pulled up in front of a local bakery, got out of the car and opened fire.
Police saw a man running away, believed to be the intended target.
ABC 6 reporter Malini Basu has the reaction from the people who were in the middle of this chaotic scene...

Very scary. More scary is the way justice will be handled. If this guy was swiftly and severly punished, he would be out of our hair an those like him would think twice before trying something like this. Our courts will drag this out. Police will be discouraged. He'll be back on the streets before you know it....and probably collecting a welfare check for a disability, like, maybe, HE HAS AN ADDICTION TO SHOOTING GUNS IN BROAD DAYLIGHT!! Oh,also, he's probably getting ready to sue the cop
